'tis the season of financial chaos 🤡
join us for book club on 1/12/23!
Holiday madness is upon us, hotties. How are you holding up? Got a minute to check on your strong friends?
Our community deals with so much heavy stuff this season:
You might be coping with being estranged from your family of origin. You might be mentally preparing to get misgendered and deadnamed when you go home for the holidays. You might be isolated from your chosen family because COVID rates and new contagious diseases are going up again.
You are not alone, my friend. Hang in there <3
When emotions run high, you might be spending impulsively without even noticing it. Personally, I’ve already spent my entire food budget for December halfway through the month because sharing a meal with my friends is absolutely necessary to get through this season. Mornings have been hard, so I order breakfast from the Guatemalan spot across the street instead of cooking. Plus, gift-giving is really not my love language, so I’ve been spending extra cash on 2-day shipping because I didn’t plan properly! 🤡 This season is clowning me, y’all.
On top of emotional holiday spending and seasonal sadness, we still have to cope with the rising cost of being human. Groceries are more expensive. It costs an arm and a leg to fill up the gas tank. The rent is still too damn high. And the economic outlook for 2023 is bleak.
The one thing that’s keeping me grounded during the holiday season is preparing for the inaugural Queer & Trans Wealth Book Club on January 12, 2023 at The Pop-Hop in Highland Park. We’ll be reading Finance for the People by Paco de Leon, a fellow queer Filipinx writer and a dear friend of mine.
Finance for the People is one of the rare personal finance books out there that actually discusses systemic inequities in capitalism. I’m so excited to facilitate a conversation about this book with queer & trans folx in LA. If you want to come, please sign up using this link.
Paco’s going to be there, too, to answer any questions — please shower her with love, support, and gratitude for writing this amazing book!
PS: If you don’t live in LA, would you be interested in attending a book club meeting on Zoom to discuss this book? Let me know! I’m trying to gauge interest to see what times & days work for everyone, and if you want to meet on Zoom in the first place.

Yes invite me to the book club please!
