great question! it depends -- if you already have an emergency savings fund with at least 3 months' worth of expenses, making monthly payments on the loans anyway would mean that interest wouldn't accrue on the loans. but if your emergency fund has less than 3 months' worth of expenses, I would recommend padding your savings first.
*knock wood that nothing bad happens* but if you're in an emergency, the money you put away instead of paying student loans would really come in handy.
