My sweet community, I have the best news!
Queer & Trans Wealth is now accepting pitches for personal essays by queer & trans writers. I’m looking for essays about:
- Trans folks who live in red states — especially if you can’t afford to move, or are deliberately building safe spaces where you live
- Freelancing and gig work, and how it supports your queer/trans identity
- Navigating money in romantic relationships
- Worker-owned co-ops or collective savings
Writers will be paid $300 per essay for 700 to 1,000 words.
Your pitch should include:
- A short paragraph introducing yourself
- 1-2 paragraphs summarizing what you want to write about — please do not send me the full essay!
- 2-3 links to your previous writing
Simply respond to this email, or send me an email at hello@queerandtranswealth.org. I’m accepting pitches until October 8. I’ll pick two stories to publish from this round of submissions.
It’s been a dream of mine to get outside funding to publish more of our community’s stories. These two stories will be paid for by our friends at Freelance Opportunities.

I spend a lot of time curating the best freelance and fractional roles for self-employed people in my twice-weekly newsletter, Freelance Opportunities! Freelance Opportunities! is dedicated to worker solidarity and rate transparency, and we are on a mission to get freelancers paid.
I'm excited to partner with Queer & Trans Wealth because I think the work Leo is doing to help people make and save money ethically is incredibly important. I've always wanted to create new ways to pay creatives with Freelance Opportunities!, and this partnership with QTW allows me to do just that. — Kaitlyn, Freelance Opportunities! Newsletter Operator
