Budgeting for a World on Fire ❤️🔥
Join us for a new 6-month group: March to August 2025
Hello to the 4,444 hotties who are subscribed to this newsletter! Thank you for being here.
I’m really excited to tell you all about our new group coaching offering: Budgeting for a World on Fire ❤️🔥 It’s a 6-month group designed for queer & trans people who want to build financial resilience during wild political times.
We’ll meet on the second Thursday of the month, from March to August 2025, from 4-5:30pm PST. We’ll have discussions, teachings, and coworking groups around budgeting, saving, debt payoff, retirement, and more.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
March 13: Setting realistic saving & debt payoff goals
April 9: How do I put a numeric value to the word ‘enough’?
May 14: Debt payoff plans + Credit Repair 101
June 11: Discipline & commitment from an anti-capitalist lens
July 9: “Ethical” investing
August 13: Closing
Let me be clear: Money doesn’t solve everything
I’ve heard stories about people losing their homes and businesses in the Los Angeles wildfires, and the grief is palpable regardless of economic status. But I know for a fact that people with inherited wealth and ample insurance coverage are faring better under this crisis than those who barely have an emergency savings fund.
I’m not saying that knowing how to make a budget will make you more prepared to lose everything or to become displaced by anti-trans policies in your state. But building financial resilience will help you buy a meal for a friend going through a hard time. Having at least a thousand dollars in your emergency savings fund can give you a few extra comfortable nights in an Airbnb instead of sleeping in your car. Some extra cash could give you or someone you love a little more breathing room before making your next moves.
Now more than ever, we must keep our money habits in check and align our impulses with our values. (Very excited to share with y’all why our impulses and impulse shopping aren’t “bad,” per se.)
We’ve saved $27,032 and counting!
13 people who joined our group coaching programs have put a total of $27,032 towards their debt and savings accounts. That’s an average of $2,079 per person in 6 months!1
Participants have also:
opened retirement accounts
stopped using credit cards
strategized giving mutual aid regularly & sustainably
Beyond the numbers, clients have also named these achievements:
Saving consistently, whether it’s a big or small amount
Talking to themselves with kindness and compassion when they stray from their spending plans
Setting up systems that work best with their neurodivergent brains
Increasing capacity for confrontation and conflict around money with partners, family members, or roommates
Feeling affirmed and empowered instead of avoidant and afraid of money
Register by Monday, March 10
The standard package starts at $750, which includes a 1-hour 1:1 coaching session. There are options to add more individual sessions, too! Payment plans are available.
